Itinerary Map


  • DAY 1Arrive to the Hacienda – Get acquainted with the horses + Visit the Milking Barn and Aging Cheese Cave (Riding time 4 hours).
  • DAY 2Isinlivi – Ride along ancient mule tracks south of the Ilinizas Volcanoes (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 3Sigchos – Ride along the spectacular Toachi Canyon. (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 4Chugchilan – Ascend to the edge of the mountain range + Stop by at one of the artisanal cheese factories + Visit Chugchilan village (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 5Quilotoa – Ascend to the edge of the volcano, ride for an hour and a half following the path + walk towards the edge of the crater and explore the lake. (Riding time 4 hours).
  • DAY 6Tour ends – After breakfast and a visit to the viewpoint of the lagoon, we will be transferred by car back to Hacienda la Alegria (2.5 hours).

About this itinerary

This tour can run with a minimum of 7 riders.

Be prepared for all weather: periods of intense equatorial sun, followed by chilly Andes’ winds or rain.

You will spend time at altitudes exceeding 11,000 feet (3900m), so it is important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
