I’ll be including a variety of different Galapagos tours in the list, from cruises to land tours, dive trips, and resort stays, so there’s something for everyone.
So, let’s dive straight into the list of top Galapagos Tours, in no particular order.
1. 6-day Galapagos Discovery Land Tour
Galapagos land tours, or island hopping, have increased in popularity over the past decade, and for good reason. Land touring offers more flexibility and freedom, as well as the chance to explore more by yourselves at your own pace.
6-days on the Galapagos Discovery Tour is perfect for those under time pressure. You’ll get to see the diversity of the wildlife and landscapes, as well as enjoy free time to relax on stunning Galapagos beaches.

Why is the Galapagos Discovery land tour one of the best Galapagos tours?
This Galapagos tour overnights on 2 different islands.
Santa Cruz promises the best navigable day tours to explore nearby islets, plus fine dining & boutique souvenir shopping.
Isabela is more off-the-beaten-path, with one of the finest golden sand beaches in the archipelago, excellent snorkeling opportunities, and a more laid-back vibe.
Expect to cross paths with a great diversity of Galapagos wildlife, including giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies, sea lions, marine iguanas, reef sharks, flamingos, and much more!
You can choose your own flexible travel dates, starting 365 days a year. There are even different comfort levels available to suit any travel budget.
With prices from just $1,445 per person for a couple, this land tour is hard to beat!

2. Finch Bay Resort
Whilst the Galapagos Islands are not a “resort” destination per se, there are options if you know where to look.
Finch Bay Hotel is as close as you get to a Galapagos resort. It’s the only beach-front hotel on Santa Cruz Island, with a swimming pool, beautiful natural surroundings, luxury accommodation, day tours, and premium service.

Why is the Finch Bay Resort one of the best Galapagos tours?
Finch Bay is the right choice for travelers seeking a resort vacation vibe in the Galapagos Islands.
The hotel facilities are superb, with comfortable social areas and a swimming pool to enjoy during downtime.
Delicious, healthy international and Galapagos-inspired menus are prepared daily by the Finch Bay chef, always using the freshest ingredients.
Day tours, operated by Finch Bay, take you to see the best of the wildlife around Santa Cruz, with optional adventure activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, biking, and kayaking.
While cruise and land tours can be full-on, at Finch Bay, you’ll get the relaxing vacation you need and also get to explore the wildlife on the islands.

3. Galaxy Sirius Catamaran
The Galaxy Sirius Catamaran is a wonderful cruise experience that I can personally vouch for, having been aboard for 5 days back in 2025. She’s a luxury catamaran of impeccable craftsmanship, with state-of-the-art amenities and personalized service.

Why is the Galapagos Sirius one of the best Galapagos tours?
Galapagos live-aboard cruises are the best choice to see the best diversity of wildlife in the Galapagos. You’ll visit more islands and travel further afield, which delivers a richer overall experience.
A big plus of the Galaxy Sirius Galapagos cruise experience, in particular, is the presence of both a cruise director and 2 bilingual naturalist guides. This ensures a highly personalized and well-managed experience for guests on board, plus an optimal guest-to-guide ratio that most other yachts cannot match.
Spacious Galaxy Sirius yacht cabins have a luxurious king-size bed or two cozy twin beds. Large windows and private balconies provide breathtaking views of the Galapagos Islands as you cruise the archipelago. Closet space, air conditioning, mini-bar, and desk also add convenience to your cruise.
The Galaxy Sirius sundeck is the ideal spot to hang out, catching some rays, stargazing, or relaxing in the large social jacuzzi.
Kayaks and paddle boards are carried onboard for guest use at Galapagos visitor sites.
The Sirius operates cruises of 5 or 6 days, which can also be combines into longer itineraries.

4. 8-day Galapagos Explorer Land Tour
Similar to the Galapagos Discovery Tour (#1 in our list), the 8-day Galapagos Explorer Land Tour offers all of the advantages that come with island hopping.
The extra days in this tour allow you to overnight on 3 different islands, and travel at a slower pace compared to the 6-day option.

Why is the Galapagos Explorer land tour one of the best Galapagos tours?
This Galapagos land tour overnights on 3 different islands.
San Cristobal has a selection of white-sand beaches, a crater lake to explore, and one of the best snorkeling excursions at Kicker Rock.
You can choose your own flexible travel dates, starting 365 days a year. There are even different comfort levels available to suit any travel budget.
With prices from just $1,855 per person for a couple, it’s still easier on the budget than most cruises or other tour types.

5. Seaman Journey Catamaran
A comfortable Galapagos cruising choice that’s not as hard on the wallet as cruises the Sirius is the Seaman Journey catamaran. Offering comfort, size, style, and cruising stability, this Galapagos yacht was refurbished in 2019 to upgrade her onboard facilities.

Why is the Seaman Journey cruise one of the best Galapagos tours?
The Seaman Journey cruise is a category down from the Sirius. It’s still a very comfortable cruise choice, though, with very similar itineraries, and a little easier on the budget.
The beautiful and well-equipped cabins all have lower beds, windows, a private bathroom, hot water, a locker, and a closet, as well as air-conditioning with individual climate control.
Comfortable social areas aboard the Seaman Journey include: dining room, two bars, lounge area, library, TV/DVD, stereo, ice maker, and water purifier. Best of all, though, is the spacious & well-furnished sun deck, perfect to kick back and appreciate the gorgeous ocean views and sunsets.
The Seaman Journey operates cruises of 5, 7, or 9 days, which can also be combined into longer itineraries.

The Calipso yacht is unusual in Galapagos, in that it’s a cruise that rotates each week between a standard naturalist itinerary and a specialist live-aboard Galapagos diving itinerary, offering the best of both worlds!

Why is the Calipso cruise one of the best Galapagos tours
The dive itinerary takes you north to dive sites at Darwin and Wolf islands, famous for breathtaking scuba action with Hammerhead Sharks and Whale Sharks! This area is among the very best dive sites on the planet!
The Calipso dive platform and facilities are brand new, offering top-class diving possibilities.
The Calipso dive itinerary runs for 8 days, while the naturalist week is also split into shorter 4 and 5-day routes.

We recommend visiting the Happy Gringo Galapagos Travel Portal for more help in cruise vacation planning. You’ll find links to a wide variety of informative blog posts containing everything you need to plan the perfect trip.
What about Galapagos itineraries? Which route is best?
With 13 major islands, over 40 smaller islands, and many more rocky outcrops, the Galapagos archipelago is huge.
In my opinion, your Galapagos itinerary is the single most important factor in your trip planning. Not all routes are created equally, and certain islands are blessed with more diversity of wildlife than others.
For most of us, we’ll have to compromise and visit just some of the islands over a shorter time period.
Common cruise routes are: western islands, northern islands, and south-east islands. All have their own highlights and are enjoyable in their own right, but my personal favorite will always be the Western Islands.
Land trips will overnight on different islands, usually 1, 2, or 3, whilst visiting nearby sites. Whilst your reach is more limited compared to a cruise, you’ll have more time at the sites that you visit. It may also be possible to customize your own itinerary.

How many days is best for a Galapagos tour?
Galapagos cruises operate for anything from 4 up to 15 days, although the sweet spot for most visitors is 6-8 days.
Don’t forget, the first and last days at the islands are cut short by the flight schedules, so a 4-day trip ends up as just 2 full days in the middle to enjoy, with short activities on days 1 and 4.

How to find a reliable Galapagos Cruise Travel Agency
With hundreds of Galapagos travel companies out there, how do you sort the wheat from the chaff for your Galapagos Islands vacation?
Research is the key to narrowing your options down and making the right choice.
Important things to look for in the best Galapagos Tour Companies:
1. How many years has the company been in business? Look for a company with experience and a reputation.
2. What do their clients think of them? Check out reviews on 3rd-party sites like TripAdvisor, Trustpilot, and Google Reviews. What is their average review score? How many reviews in total have they received?
3. How good is their online customer service? Are they responsive and helpful from first contact? If not, this can be a red flag.
4. What range of tours & services do they offer? Are their offerings aligned with your vacation needs?
5. Do they support responsible travel & conservation at the islands? Most Galapagos travel agents make ecological promises, but do they really deliver?

When is the best time of year to visit Galapagos?
One of the most frequently asked questions when planning a Galapagos vacation is: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT GALAPAGOS?
While Galapagos weather does vary each month, there is no “best” or “worst” time for Galapagos travel. In fact, the Galapagos Islands are a fabulous year-round destination, with a pleasant climate throughout the year.
Even better, there are no Galapagos weather extremes to deal with. No snow or frost, no hurricanes, no extreme hot or cold temperatures.
That said, there are subtle differences in Galapagos weather each month. Trip planners will want to consider the Dry season vs. the wet season. There are also peak vs off-season tourist months to plan around. The famous Galapagos Islands wildlife follow climate seasons for nesting, mating, hatching & parenting - so, there's different action to see each month. Galapagos water temperature also varies throughout the year, with implications for snorkeling with/without a wetsuit. Each of these Galapagos climate factors can make a difference to your enjoyment of the archipelago.
For more detailed analysis about the subtleties of each month in the Galapagos Islands, read our When is the best time to visit Galapagos? blog.
