Itinerary

DAY 1 CUSCO - WAYLLABAMBA (L,D), 12km.
Our trek begins at the famous ‘km. 82’ footbridge. We’ll follow the Urubamba River, before a steady five-hour climb, passing by the ancient Incan site of Patallacta on route to our first campsite at Wayllabamba.
DAY 2 WAYLLABAMBA - PACAYMAYO (B,L,D), 11km.
An early start for what is the most physically demanding day of the Inca Trail trek. 9 km of steep steps lead up with great views along the trail. After reaching the high point of Warmihuañusca (‘Dead Woman’s Pass’) at 4,200m/13,776ft, we’ll hike downhill to Pacaymayo camp site.
DAY 3 PACAYMAYO - WIÑAYWAYNA (B,L,D), 16km.
Today starts at the Inca ruins of Runkurakay, an ancient, fortified guard tower. From here, we hike through misty, moss-covered cloud forest paths down to more impressive ruins at Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca. The trail continues along steep steps to the most impressive ruins so far: Wiñayhuayna, before finally reaching camp closeby.
DAY 4 WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (B), 2km
A very early start today for your short hike to Inti Punku (the ‘Sun Gate’). From here, enjoy the early-morning sun rising behind our first sighting of Machu Picchu. Descending to the site itself, there are great photo opportunities. At the citadel, your Circuit 3B Royalty ticket provides access to the lower section of Machu Picchu, encompassing the agricultural terraces and urban sector, including the Water Mirrors, Pisonay Square, the Temple of the Condor, and the Sacred Stone. At around noon, you’ll head down to Aguas Calientes town and take the train to Ollantaytambo, before a transfer to your Cusco hotel.

About Machu Picchu

  • Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu are personalized and have to be pre-purchased with full passport details of the visitor. Once issued, these tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
  • Each ticket is issued for a specific timeslot, during which you have access to enter Machu Picchu. For each timeslot there is a limited number of tickets allocated, which are sold first come, first served.
  • The visit to Machu Picchu is restricted to specific circuits which you´ll need to follow. It is not possible to re-enter the ruins with the same entrance ticket.
