Pichincha Volcano Day Trek

The Guagua Pichincha Volcano (4,784 m) trekking tour takes you high over the city of Quito, up to the crater lip of an active volcano. This is a great option for an active day tour, close to the city, enjoying fabulous views from the peak.

Note: This trip can also be changed to hike up Rucu Pichincha via the teleferico. This is an easier route to a slightly lower summit (4,696 m).

  • Enjoy the scenic road journey through Lloa, up to the base of the volcano at 4000 m.
  • Trek up to the impressive Guagua Pichincha summit.
  • Peer into the smoking crater of this active volcano.
  • Continue trekking through the Pichincha Reserve, enjoying the high Andean paramo grassland scenery.
  • Enjoy fine views over the city of Quito on a clear day.
