This week-long tour explores six of the volcanoes of Ecuador- Rucu Pichincha (4680m), Cotopaxi (5897m), Corazon (4788m), Quilotoa (3854m), Chimborazo (6310m), and Tungurahua.
Along the way, you stay in historic haciendas and discover the adventure capitals of the country. Highlights include biking in Cotopaxi National Park, the Quilotoa Crater Lake, and visiting Chimborazo-the highest point from the center of the Earth in the world. Before heading back to Quito, you visit Tungurahua, an active volcano outside of Banos.
This excursion explores the best of two worlds, the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu. The first six days after arriving on Santa Cruz are spent island hopping to uninhabited and inhabited islands including Isabela, Bartolome Island, Plazas Islands, Floreana Island, and Santa Fe. On the last day of the trip you climb the Sierra Negra Volcano, ending at a six-mile-wide crater that still bubbles with lava beneath the crust.
The second leg of the journey begins with a stop for the night in Guayaquil and a flight to Lima the next day. From Lima, you fly to Cusco, a stunning city whose streets are lined with museums and churches that the Spanish left after they were defeated. An afternoon tour takes you the best sites in the city, highlighting the Spanish occupation and the Incan influences of Peru.
The next day you head to the Sacred Valley- visiting sites, weavers and artisans along the way. The day that follows is devoted to Machu Picchu, first discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. After taking a train to the site, you are free to explore with the help of a guide who explains the intricacies and history of the site and its buildings.
On the 12th day of the tour, you have the option to take a second trip to Machu Picchu or spend the morning relaxing before headed back to Cusco. This trip ends with a flight from Cusco, but many choose to stay an extra day or so to take in more of the sites on their own.
